Some interesting reads from last week:
1. Collective Speed Is Not the Summation of Individual Speed - Jim Neilsen
In a relay race, the baton is arguably the most critical element. Passing it cleanly is vital because if you fumble it you’re easily behind a few meters or maybe even disqualified.
A thought provking comparison drawn by Jim!
2. Memory Is the Machine - Om Malik
We have spent years talking about CPUs and GPUs, and treated memory as a footnote, especially when it comes to Apple Silicon. And the reason is you can’t market memory as sexy, but more CPU cores, and more GPU cores, pack a greater marketing punch.
The examples he shares, plus the reader’s note at the end of the article is particularly useful information for me, considering I’m looking to upgrade to the M5 Max whenever Apple makes it available.
3. Puddles - Seth
Puddles only exist when there’s been some sort of motion that caused a depression that could collect the water. If you want to see how the audience is responding, how the culture is shifting, how your customers are acting–look for the puddles.
This ties in nicely for indie app developers like myself. Now I’ll always look for the puddles!
